First field trip of the year and it is just January! We were in the southernmost point of Turkey – Hatay.

It was my first time I have been here and it is an impressive land. We were around Cebel-i Akra Mountain, Kel Dağ where one side is Turkey, the other side is Syria. After collecting some plants, Iris histrio, Galanthus sp. and Sternbergia sp., around here, we kept moving to Adana, then Mersin and at every stop, we looked for plants ofcourse.

Main reason for this trip was to find one of the Iris species, Iris stenophylla, in a certain location. But, as the time was a bit early for the flowers, we couldn’t get what we want, that’s why we are planning to go back to the same location in February and then I am hoping to finish this blog with a new title - ‘A complete fieldtrip’.

Meanwhile, I have prepared this video below for a bit of a chance to describe the feeling of the fieldwork. The music I chose for the video, Bolero by Maurice Ravel, was the song we were actually listening to all the way and this is a song from my childhood. In each and every field work I did with my Dad, we were listening to this song, from a cassette on those times.

When we find the plant, I will also complete the video! Finger cross!
