IRIS AUCHERI

I was waiting this for a long time. Although nothing was certain this year, with a last minute decision, I have travelled to Gaziantep to see the carpets of Iris aucheri. And I did. Here is a video I prepared for this lovely specimen.

The land was turn into bright purple colour with such amount of flowers scattered all around. I felt restless and now I woke up from the winter, as the spring.

After seeing and painting different color forms from white to ice blue, I am hoping to end up with a rich composition with all those colour forms included. Although the number of sketches waiting to be completed is getting high, I am aiming something colourful.

After Barcelona workshops, I almost went straight to Gaziantep for this species. I went there empty-handed when I jumped directly to the wilderness from a city. Thanks to Gaziantep Botanical Garden for providing all kinds of help for me, and I would like to thank to Banu Gökçek, Fatih Yayla, Ebru Bozlar who accompanied and guided me in the field.
