Online Learners are in RBGE
Distance Diploma Botanical Illustration course is designed as a hybrid course. All our online learners have the option to come to RBGE to attend the study week, to meet their tutors, and with each other in person! After we are spending a decent amount of time together in our online teaching platform, finally meeting in person is a quite enjoyable moment.
This year, our study week held in ‘Teaching Lab’ at RBGE within the week 17-21 of June. 16 students attended to the course from all around the world, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Switzerland, France and many more. How fascinating it is!
Theme of our week was ‘Aromatic Herbals’. Attendees explore many herbal plants in many different ways, from print making to scientific botanical illustration. They had the opportunity to dive into the archive books in the library and explore many old books, florilegiums from 1700s.
And as every year, we had a very talented visiting tutor, Shevaun Doherty. Our students had a full day with Shevaun to practice on Lavandulas to learn and understand her techniques and approach in watercolor. Many things to learn!
So we are happy and satisfied to spend such a week with our students! Now everyone is back their home to continue their projects and studies.
Our next run of Distance Learning course is starting 2020! But there are already many applicants! If you like to be one of them, check the link below to obtain further information and apply.
