To produce such a book requires enthusiasm and load of energy. Thanks to Martin Gardner, he made sure, we were getting our samples on the right times in its perfect flowering or fruiting times.

While we are working such a book, Wild Leaf Reals has been shot some videos to show the preparations of the paintings and some nice stories at the behind.

A short video celebrating Lophosoria quadripinnata (silver fern), which features in the new publication ‘Plants from the Woods and Forests of Chile’ from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Botanist Martin Gardner describes the world of the Valdivian rainforest, where this huge fern grows, and artist Işık Güner tells the story of creating this beautiful intricate botanical painting.

Botanist Martin Gardner introduces the vibrant Chilean bellflower ‘Copihue’ (Lapageria rosea), which features in the new book ‘Plants from the Woods and Forests of Chile’ from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. And artist Işık Güner tells the story behind the painting.

A glimpse behind the scenes making our exhibition film ‘Painting the Woods and Forests of Chile’. In 2009 botanical artist Işık Güner collected a sample from a monkey puzzle tree (Araucaria araucana) at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, for making a painting for ‘Plants from the Woods and Forests of Chile’. Arborist Peter Wilson helped her, using a MEWP vehicle so she could reach high up into the tree. We recreated this scene for our exhibition film last summer (6 years later) as the project, paintings, and publication were completed.
