The long-standing work of many botanists and botanical artists was finally exhibited in the John Hope Gateway Hall in Edinburgh between 6th August and 6th November 2016. I was unable to attend as I was in China at the time — but my paintings were there, and in spirit, so was I!
It was only fitting that Nepalese plants should also be exhibited in Kathmandu. In June 2017, these paintings were displayed in Neera's art gallery; Neera is a well-known painter in Nepal. Project leaders Jacqui and Claire attended the exhibition and organised a further workshop. It is heartening to see the interest in botanical illustration growing through these events.
The final venue of this touring exhibition was Benmore Botanic Garden in June 2017. Some years earlier, I had stayed in that tranquil garden to paint Chilean plants. It was both exciting and deeply enjoyable to return, and to be present at the closing exhibition of the project.
We are delighted that our work was featured in The Sunday Telegraph.
