Işık navruzu — Iris reticulata subsp. isikgunerae
Back in February 2019, we made a memorable expedition to Kahramanmaraş in search of an iris species suspected to be a new subspecies. After two years, the paper has finally been published — and it is now officially named: Işık navruzu — Iris reticulata subsp. isikgunerae
You can perhaps imagine how happy I am that such a delicate and beautiful plant now carries my name. The plant illustration I made of it back in 2019 — before anyone knew quite what it was — now belongs to its official record. We share a name, this little iris and I.
The type specimen is held at the NGBB Herbarium Collection.
