Between the Olive Trees: a botanical illustration workshop, Ayvalık
This 5-day workshop with botanical artist, Işık Güner, will be hosted at Cooks Grove for a program filled with illustration and painting techniques, plant education, and daily meals prepared by Chef Şemsa Denizsel in the heart of Turkey’s Northern Aegean coast.
This workshop is a wonderful holiday opportunity to learn and develop your skills and knowledge about botanical art, while enjoying the peaceful environment of Cooks Grove. Participants will be treated to excellent hospitality and delicious seasonal meals.
The program begins with the basic techniques of watercolor for botanical illustrations. Daily classes teach participants how to accurately draw plants by observing basic botanical shapes/structures and illustrating them with accuracy. We will focus on developing the ability to see shapes, judge angles, draw in proportion, represent forms with tonal value, use light and shade to make life-like drawings, use watercolor washes, and mix our own colors. Between the Olive Trees with Işık Güner will help to combine scientific accuracy with an aesthetic vision to create original botanical artwork.
