2025 - Ferns and Fiddleheads, RBGE

We will be working on the intricate details of ferns from the living collection of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

In this two-day workshop we will focus on the intricate details of ferns — understanding their patterns and underlying structures. We will explore the different shades of green found across a variety of species, as well as a range of textures, from shiny fronds to softly hairy young buds. Over the weekend, the puzzle of the fern will be unravelled through careful observation and exploratory paint work.

This is an in-person course held at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
