Illustrating Plants in the Field: Observation, Technique and Methods
As part of the Illustrated Flora of Turkey project, this special journey to south-eastern Turkey in search of the Taurus iris brings us face to face with one of nature's most striking colours. The captivating world of irises — encompassing every shade of the rainbow — is explored through field observations and direct encounters with the plant. Drawing on her first impressions of meeting the Taurus iris, Işık Güner shares the disciplined processes of observation, drawing, and watercolour techniques required to illustrate a plant with scientific accuracy, illustrated with hands-on examples. You are invited to discover how the subtleties of working in nature and studio practice come together.
