RICE PAPER

More recently, I have been exploring painting on Chinese rice paper and Japanese washi paper. You will find some examples of these illustrations in this gallery. The original artworks in this collection are held in various private and public collections around the world.
AğlayangelinFritillaria imperialis L.Watercolour on rice paper, 2024135 x 66 cmThe native range of this species is East, Central and Southeast of Türkiye to West Himalaya.  I collected my specimen from the magnificent Munzur Valley, where it grows in abundance and blooms fully in early Spring. It was exhibited at my solo exhibition Habitat in Çamlıhemşin (2024), and is now part of the exhibition "In Bloom" at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (March–August 2026).
